I'm thinking of traveling to Montana this summer to fish walleyes at Ft Peck. I've never been there.

I'm wondering- A) What area has the best fishing in mid-summer? B) I'm looking for an inexpensive place to stay. I don't need a meal plan or 4 star accommodations. I just need a place to sleep and a dock with electricity to plug in my battery charger overnight.

Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated!

i went to fort peck several years ago and stayed near the [PoorWordUsage] creek marina. there wasa hotel with decent accommodations, a state park, and a gas station-bait shop. it was about 20 miles north of jordan on a dead end road with awesome scenery. the fishing wasn't the best but it was 100+ degrees every day. i would someday love to go back. you should be able to find information on the internet about this location. also check out kibler's guide service, husband and wife myron and mary beth operate out of this marina and are very friendly and knowledgable. good luck

I just got back from H E L L Creek. All I can think about is the day we get to go back. The missouri breaks are AWESOME with mulies running everywhere! We were after northerns and did okay. My dad (who hasn't ice fished in over 20 years) caught the biggest....a FAT...and I mean FAT 16.5 pounder. I caught a northern that was about 21 inches long and almost 3 pounds!!

I know they are close to the spawn...but they definitely eat well. With over 50 species of fish in that lake...it must be like a smorgasborg down there! More shoreline than the state of California...makes the lake very intimidating. I would hire a guide at least for day 1. Clint (owner of H e ll Creek Marina) is an AWESOME standup guy who will shoot you straight. Don't bother e-mailing them from their HSOforum....just call smile

Like I said.....I'm counting down the days to when we can go back...I want some of those lake trout!!!!!! Good luck.
