Updating Lowrance 522c

lookin4fish

Question

After unsucessfully waiting on hold to speak to a person at Lowrance for 45 minutes, and seaching thier FAQ's section for another 45 minutes, I could not figure out how to get my 522 to accept the update. I downloaded the update on to an SD card, and according to the instructions, when I put it in the unit, it should load automaticly. It does nothing. The SD card works because I can transfer and save waypoints no problem, and when i try to browse the file from the unit, I can see it but it will not let me load/run it, only delete it. I must be missing something. I also did a hard reset to see if that would help but no luck. Any suggestions?

I agree, format your card and start over. Also, if the update doesn't start automatically I think the steps for the update tell you how to kick it off manually by selecting a file on the card???? Good luck.

Your problem is that the files for the update on your card are not first in line. Open the file folder on your computer with the card in your reader, and arrange the card files so the loader file is first, followed by the update information file and you should be good to go. Otherwise back up your card, format it (erase), and start over so there are no other files on the card.

Either delete everything on the card just like you would delete files in your PC folders or move the contents to your PC if you don't want to lose those items. Then move the update file onto the card. A true format isn't required.

I just installed the update to my card and 3 files are now on there. I am not sure which file would be the loader file. I have a update.lop file, phantom_3.ldr file and a poseidonMS_v240t file. Which order should these be in to get the update to work properly?
