I see temps in the 40s coming up this week! Time to get a couple rods rigged for river eyes. Bonus sturgeon almost a guarantee this time of year also. Anyone else hitting open water soon?

I won't be fishing for much of anything for a few days, blew the engine in my truck last week. 6.gif It did have 160,000 on it though so not a big loss, I figured it would go sooner or later.

Anyhoo, as soon as I get back on wheels, there's still a lot of ice fishing to be done and I had 18 below this morning. grin Good luck on the river!!!

Fished the Chippewa in town Sat - very slow for eyes, we managed a couple shovelnose sturgeon, non of the big lake variety.

Headed over to Altoona on the ice and got a few perch and one small eye. Maybe I will have to drill holes for another week or two until the eyes pick up cry

I started my open water adventure as I do every year for trout. 4 guys we managed 3 browns fishing a variety of streams in the Western WI area. Started off on the Rush, Eau Galle,Plum and Kinni. Water was high and milky. What a day though, just happy to be casting a long rod and not looking down at a hole and flashing lights. It was a little cold but a nice day to see the area once again.

Cooter you ever fish Red Cedar in March/April for the eye run??

Caught two small eyes on the Chippewa R Fri afternoon - current has slowed to a more fishable level. Hoping for a warm spell to hit the lakes for crappies. Was a pic of a 57" sturgeon a kid had caught downtown in the local paper Fri.

Glad you were able to get out for a while. With the recent weather and all the turkey hunts coming up I haven't even thought about getting the boat fired up yet.

I fished Two small lakes and the Red Cedar River in Menomonie over the weekend.

Small Lake in St.Croix County-brought home 14 crappies. Biggest went 14.5"

Red Cedar River Dunn County- 1hit,I miss. Caught a mid 30's Musky on a lindy

Small Lake in Pepin County- caught over 200 crappies, majority white crappies. Caught a mid 30's pike and 2.5lb bass/

It was nice to get out once again! Three Days of fishing and no regrets!!

I hit the Chipp last night with about 15 minners left in the bucket. I never got the jig back to shore - either snagged or caught fish. Action was great and I ran out of minnows before dark. Problem was they were all little male dinks.

Might try again tonight.
