Free to good home: 7yr old pure bred chocolate lab

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a good home for my 7yr old pure bred chocolate lab. He comes with a big kennel, and training collar.

He is a very good dog, house trained, great with kids. I used to hunt ducks with him, so he is somewhat trained as a retriever. it has been a couple years since i hunted with him, but i am sure he would pick it back up no problem. loves to retrieve.

The sad thing is we now have two little kids of our own, and it is difficult to find the appropriate amount of time to give him. He would be better off with someone who can give him the time he deserves.

if you are interested or know someone who may be, please send me an email at [email protected].

I can email pictures if necessary. thanks.

I wish you and your dog the best, I also think no matter what he would be happy with you folks till the end. I also know someone will come along and treat him well. I have 2 dogs now so I'm not able to, but I'd love too! We have kids, grandkids and all the other folks around us, the dog's (adopted) are awsome. That's why I say someone will care for him, good luck!

Mike,

thanks for the words of encouragement. My wife and I go back and forth with the decision. It is tough, he was our baby before we had babies. But our life is just different now, and time is a premium. Unfortunately, lately our dog does not get much of our time. Summers are better because we can go outside more.

Avonangler, email sent.

I will keep everyone posted if something changes, but after talking last night with the wife, we have just decided to try and make it work. Our dog is 7yrs old, will be 8 yrs in june. He has been with us this long, so we are just not sure how he would react if we gave him up.

nice to see people who are willing to help though.

thanks.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! I hate to see that sort of thing happen. He will love you no matter what. We went through the same thing with our "baby" when we had kids. Yes he didn't get the quality time he used to, but I still firmly believe there is nowhere else that you dog wants to be than with you, regardless of how much time you can spend with him. Good luck, I think you made the right decision. Pets are family too and deserve our love and respect!!

I lost my Choco Lab back in Jan, he was just 7. I would give anything to see that dog again, just for 5 minutes. He battled cancer for 10 months, and it finally got the best of him. He was in my arms when he went, I don't think either of us would of had it any other way...

good luck, just give him a good scratching and a pat on the head daily...

Amen perchking! Jigger, I applaud you for your decision...the time thing will get better and he will get the attention he needs/deserves from you no matter what. I think you would have regretted giving him up! Enjoy him...I have an 8+ year old black and I enjoy that dog every day!

Perhaps get your buddy a friend. whistle

Glad to hear your going to keep him. grin

"hooks"

smile we have two dogs, and I don't think I could ever have just one, they do keep themselves company and are best friends - and they are even sisters, which I hear isn't always as friendly as our our dogs are to each other.

Glad you kept the pooch Jigger smile

I got my dog last year, he was 1 when I got him. I have a 5 1/2 year old daughter, I was telling my wife the other day that he is the best baby sitter we could ask for, those two will run all day and might be the best thing for each other, I am sure your kids will think the same as they get older. Good luck

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
