Washing Machine Help

TruthWalleyes

Question

Ok, Last few times i've washed my clothes they have come out with some white spots on them. Is this too much soap that couldn't get washed off? Or is there something else going on?

It's the pits when you wash a shirt and it comes out looking worse than when i put it in there!

You probably need less then half the amount of soap the packages recommend. From what I have been told by someone with knowledge of marketing tecniques of these companies is that they tell you to use more then needed becuase the extra soap that doesn't get rinsed out makes your clothing softer without getting it any cleaner. So if you are like most men and don't care if your shirt is baby soft then you can get by with less detergent.

Also I've had the same issue while using the machines when I was in college. It did it mostly with the dry detergent.

try starting the washer and putting the soap at the bottom so it mixes with the water and then but your clothes on top. Should help.

I had similar things happen with a specific brand of liquid scentfree clothes wash I bought at a local Outdoor Retailer. It would leave white areas on my clothing where it made contact with the clothes. I stopped using that brand, but it seemed to be if I just poured the detergent directly on the clothes after I put them in the machine is where I came into problems. Would probably add the detergent after the tub fills with water.

Also saw a news report a few month ago where the washer expert said that you only need a few tablespoons of liquid clothes wash in order to get the job done, unless you have some really dirty clothes.

I put in under a forth of what the manufacturer recommends and my clothes are just as clean and stink free.
