What is the best way to position a Lazer Mag in my Fish Trap Pro when walking out on the ice? Do you guys just put the motor end in the bottom of the sled with the auger laying on the support poles? Thanks for any ideas.I always find the best info from this forum.

i usually have my cover on and I put the auger head over the back front of the tub and the auger going towards the other side......so if you were pulling it the head of the auger is closest to you and the blade hangs over the other side.....or you could always put the whole auger in the tub by disconecting the motor from the shaft

I use a sled cover and lay the auger on top - no particular special way. If I am going over rough snowy areas, I will carry my auger while pulling the sled by hand so I don't have to worry about it falling off.

You could do a mod like some quys have and build storage into the base and put auger mounts on the top of the compartment doors or just build an auger mount into the base that holds the auger up above everything. I did this with my Frabill Recon which has a different sled/tent config. than your Pro but the same principal would apply. I'll try to post pics if your interested.

Here you go. Nothing special just 5/8" plywood for the vertical stands and 3/4" for the base where the hinges attach. The auger end locks upright using heavy duty fence latches, pull the latches in and it folds down for the trunk. To secure the latches I just drilled holes into the side of the sled for the latches to slide into. The head end probably would'nt work the same for you because of how the tent is configuered on your Pro but might give you some ideas.

Nice mod's redbandit! Are those hodholders attached to the bucket or the plywood?

To the bucket. Works pretty good. My buddy from work came up with that. Just have to be carfull during transportation. A bouncy sled ride across the lake resulted in some bent rod eyes. Needless to say I now carry all the rods in the rodbox and have converted the "rod bucket" into the "power bucket" that I left a couple of rod holders but added a 12v power supply with cig. adapters for GPS, LED lights, etc. I'll get some pics up of that aswell.

Thanks RedBandit ... looking forward to the other pic's.

I know this is off topic, but I had been looking for a good rod holder setup for toting rods while hole hopping. I tried the "Rod Handler" by Zero Degree - nice idea but the rod holders are so narrow, most cork rods will not fit in them. Ended up settling on a great solution that was right under my nose. Using my Vexilar with the Propack2 case, I can load it up with 2 rods (by buying an additional rod holer bracket), plus carrying one - allows me to hole hop with 3 rods. Works great. Didn't think of it before because I always kept my vex in the blue soft case. Don't use the case anymore, just for storage.

Robby - I have a scout so similar. If I am walking out with the scout, I usually carry the auger over my shoulder with a sling. Purchased at Thorne Bros, not sure of the name of the product. This leaves both hands free for pulling / balancing. I have walked a fair bit (only had for a couple of weekends) with this sling and it is very easy. This REALLY lightens up the sled and pulling it becomes easy. The other nice thing is auger is right there for when you get to your spot - no having to "dig" it out or assemble the powerhead to the auger. Hope this helps. Paul
