TRUE All In One Remote

zamboni

Question

I am looking for a remote control for the TV, VCR/DVD combo and most importantly- the PS3. I hate using the controller for watching movies, and am not really wanting to shell out money for their DVD remote. Are there any all for ones out there that will run a PS3?

Harmony is the best out there, and a price to go with it too.

Either that or get a learning remote that can control just about anything you just have. Sony has relatively inexpensive one at about 24.99.

Logitch Harmony is the only way to go. I got two 550's for $60 each a couple of months ago at BB. You can find them online though for around that price if you look at the auction sites. But they are best and easiest to setup. I love that they have macros so you only have to push one button (watch tv) and it turns on everything for you.

It appears the PS3 uses Bluetooth, whereas the Harmony (and pretty much every other remote) uses infa-red. Not sure what Sony was thinking but they kinda screwed that one up.

There are devices you can buy for the PS3 that will convert the Bluetooth to IR so you can use a typical IR remote if you still want to go that route. Kind of a pain, but what do you do?
