Dual-Ballbearing swivels.

i posted this in another thread but figured i'd start another to avoid doing a hi-jack.

interesting note... to me anyway. hear tell Thorne Brothers is coming out with a dual ball bearing swivel on all their in-house leaders. both ends of the single swivel (#4 i think, not sure) ride on bearings instead of one side. now that is a true ball bearing swivel. it should solve the issues of failure due to the extra/excessive amount of force from hard pulling spinners. without needing a huge swivel. sounds intriguing. now if i can buy just a few swivels....

so if i read you post right you can only get them on there leaders? they dont just sell the swivels? funny a buddie and i were just talking about this the other night and would love to get my hands on some.

i'm not sure if they are going to sell them. i'm hoping they do though, then i won't have to make them with two like i was planning. i was , actually i made a few, going to put one on each end and use a split ring to attach the spinners. i was puting a second swivel 6''s down from the first (for awhile now), but that way has issues too. with the new one i could just do it normal. nessessity really is the mother of invention.

i tried using two, one at each end and a split ring. that seemed to work but i would like to use a snap insted - adding the snap to the split ring just did not seem like a good idea.

6 in. down - interesting - that did not work out? i guess that is alot of parts

i'll let you know mt. either way i'm getting the leaders, i can always just recycle.

the issues with the second swivel were into the wind. it would foul more often with inline spinners and worse on long lures, especially my prop baits. it was ok as long as i had a second rod with a regular leader though. i'd just switch up. but it seems i don't need to worry about that anymore ...if i was a sissy i'd say i'm almost giddy about it.

They are only selling them on their leaders this year, 2010 they might be available separately.

thanks red. kind of figured that. heck, i don't blame them one bit. the time and effort to get it going, not to mention cost, they deserve the exclusive. maybe semi-exclusive? i'm thinking big ol' Dardevelles can't even twist up line with them babies. supposed to be strong as the bageezus too. i'm exited.

Bass Pro currently sells this same thing. Saw them in the catalog not too long ago.

Not sure on weight ratings though.

Worth checking into...
