straydog
My feeders used to have hundreds of them flying around, last winter and this winter there is only a handful. Sucks because the are my favorates to watch.
Dotch
Misery loves company straydog. They haven't been here at all this winter. Last winter there were 6 - 8 who stayed faithfully until April and were gone. Heard one the other day while outside but haven't seen them at the feeders yet. I don't know what to blame it on, habitat, disease, someone else with better feed closer to their preferred habitat, etc. I do know the people here sure have posted some wonderful 'dee photos which helps ease the pain a little. Steve Foss
Yeah, I'm with Dotch. Just hard to say because there can be so many reasons birds do or don't keep coming to feeding stations. We are right on the edge of woods with a feeder right next to the trees/shrubs along the woods, and we only get the occasional chickadee this winter. Here's a chick or two for you chick-starved guys. boreal chickadee our old friend the black-capped

jonny_redhorse
And another boreal from this morning .....The bog's roads sure had the birders/photogs as the Festival was in full swing this weekend.....I think many went away happy!...some were seeing the boreal chickadees for the very first time ever .....this lone boreal flew in and out at the Arkola Station repeatedly and was being obliging enough to let various people photograph it...A weasel also made a brief showing but I never got any images....Jim(jimalm) may have, he was still there as I left...
