AJ
I have a 1998 Polaris Indy and I need to get a hitch on it. All I am towing is my otter portable with the tow bar. What is the right hitch (best fit, ease of install, ease of use) for me? Where should I procure it? These pretty easy to install? THanks. loosegoose
If all you're pulling is a fish house with very little weight a bumper hitch will work just fine. Any dealer should be able to help you out.
BoxMN
Don't get the universal silver looking hitch that looks like a "U" shape with two sets of holes - it won't fit around the bumper. I put one on al old 88 indy I have, and just drilled holes through the bumper to get it to fit, but on 02 I don't want to drill. This was the about $15 model you find on the main snomo parts site, or that they have at dealerships as "universal"... I got one for my yamaha that is made for it and it works much better. SM1
AJ-Do a search in the BWCA-Ely forum for hitch installation. I have the same sled as you and you should get some good info there. Or you could search my posts for the thread. Pictures on there also.good luck.
Surface Tension
That bumper is aluminum. An otter house won't bend it but if your pulling another sled it will bend it. Get this hitch. Its an easy install. Dry fit it before you drill the holes.
