Lake Trout..What should I use????

Hey everyone,

Have a chance to go lake trout fishing in Canada..Never done it before and was wondering what you guys use.Can I use any of the same lures I have for walleye already??..Any suggestions would be helpful..Deeper water also I am assuming..Thanks

I've had luck with white tubes, bucktail jigs and airplane jigs.

Normally, something that has white, blue or chartruese seem to work well in Canada.

Good luck-I hope to get a chance up there this year also.

White tubes will probably get the highest votes here. I also like jigging shad raps, spoons, and lipstick jigs. Some of the new plastic lures work great. Some guys use cut bait or minnows too.

Nice big buckshot rattle jig. The white tubes work good too. It depends on the forage base. Ciscos (tullibies) white seems to be the color, smelt-green is the hot ticket. Also, in winter time the fish are all over, shallow water is not off limits. I have had some of my personal bests in less than 30 fow. The main thing is to find the forage and the lakers wont be far behind.
