IowanSince02
Pardon my ignorance, but I am new to eastern Iowa. Is it true that there is a dam in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, on the Cedar River? And that walleyes and sauger can be caught below the dam in the winter? If so, is it open right now? Thanks for any input.
Whisker Trout Slayer
First welcome to FM, as this is the best site for fishing and any outdoor information.Yes there is a dam near downtown Cedar Falls that I know people fish for walleye. There also is a dam in downtown Waterloo. Personally I have never fished either of them so hopefully others that are from the Waterloo/CF area can help you out. If the river isn't froze below either dam I am sure you could catch some fish.
delmuts
Welcome to FM ! The water may be open below the dams, but many times there is enough ice on the shore, so getting close to it could be a problem. The cedar produces a lot of walleye! you will also have options to the north such as waverly, and nashua. All just short driver from waterloo. When spring comes, you will have plenty of company on the water.
