BLACKJACK
Yesterday I did the standard throw the beef roast in the roaster, cut up some onions with it, salt and pepper it, add a cup of water, and bake for two hours at 350, an hour later threw in some baking potatoes (since my wife is getting burnt out on potatoes, I even went wild and crazy and bought and baked a couple of yams for her). A quick and easy as you can get supper but was wondering if anyone has any good variations??
IFallsRon
I use a few shakes of A1 and wooster. Natural brown rice is a good side. I also prefer using whole carrots rather than the mini as well as celery.
prov1900
We also made a roast yesterday. Tonight, we converted it to beef stew. Threw in leftover prime rib drippings and mixed in some French's brand beef stew powdered mix (combined with 3 cups of water). When I cut the roast (cold from last night) it was perfectly rare. Putting it back in the crock tonight with all the other stuff, it was excellent. Stew is nothing new by any means, but wow, was it ever good. French dips will be the next thing after our next roast. machohorn
Last time I did a roast. I cooked it in one roaster and put onions, potatoes cut in very large chunks (1/4) whole celery and carrots in another roaster with water. you would not believe the flavor of the veggies
Da Beak
Try cooking a Beef and a Pork roast tied together with the Taters, Onion, Celery and Carrot. Season them up with a little salt, pepper, and garlic. Unbelievably good! There are a few meat markets that sell the Beef/Pork combos already boned and tied. iland99
Throw in some diced up rutabagas and/or turnips along with the potatoes, carrots, and onions. Lately we've been tossing in a can of diced tomatoes as well, but that makes it closer to a stew than a roast when you do that.I think I know what I'm making for supper tomorrow night..... I usually shy away from putting the potatoes and carrots in the same roaster, its good but greasy, putting them in a seperate roaster sounds like a variation to try!!!And thanks for the other ideas!!
