Yea, they will hold on the the Kick Butt offensive guru for another year when there won't be coaches out there. Would love to see Chucky up here and what he could do with the talent. I mean, he want the SB with B-John.

He won the Super Bowl with Dungy's team. After that he didn't do squat.

I think he is a great coach, but his style burns the team out after a couple years. After the first year or two the players get tired of being rode like a surfboard by chucky then thing go down hill.

Actually, he took his own team to the Super Bowl in Oakland, then got traded to the Bucs. This past season they almost went to the playoffs with a team with no stand out running backs, a QB that was benched for a few games and their best player sat out the entire year the prior season (Bryant). He did very well for a very so-so team. I would take him anyday over the one-who-thinks-I-am-silly we have here. BTW- how many coaches get traded for???

I am not quite following you here. Gruden's only SB appearance was with TB in which they beat the Oakland Raiders coached by Bill Callahan.

You're right, I forgot about them getting screwed by that bad call that led to the Patriots going instead of them. So they lost the AFC title game against the Ravens one season and almost made (I should say should have) it to the AFC title game.

Hows that work?? My old roomate and I were talking about that, if someone hires him, does the new team have to repay the Bucs? Or if once fired, contract is null and void, but Bucs still have to pay him??

I think I understand it- lets say that the contract the bucs gave him paid 5 million a year guaranteed for the next 2 years 09 & 2010. And I think Gruden's & most coaches contracts are guaranteed.

So he is under contract to make 5 mil a year that the Bucs owe him. Detroit offers him 7 mil a year for 2 years to coach 09 & 10. Bucs pay 5 mil of the 7 mil and Detroit pays the other 2 mil, only for 09 & 10.

That is how I understand it works, which is why you see fired coaches just sit out until their contract time is up because they are still getting paid.

I think you're wrong on that one Pauly, if Detroit were to pay him 7 mil, I think the Bucs would be off the hook. If Detroit were to pay him say 3 mil, the Bucs would still have to pay him 2 mil to make up the difference. I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time.

Snooze, I think you got it that would make more sense. Pretty sure though that the team that fires is on the hook for living up to the end of the contract, of course I suppose they could just write one big check too. All I know is its rough trying to figure out how to pay millions of dollars to coaches, and I cringe at the gas pumps lol

I think its all a negotiation between the suits. The bucs dont have to let him out of his contract either. So lets suppose chucky wants to coach in detroit. The bucs wont let him coach for another team unless there is something in it for them. I would guess a more likely senario would be bucs pay 2.5 million detroit pays 4 million. Its what ever makes everyone happy. Some teams always seem the get the good end of the deal and some get Herschel Walker.

Na, I'm sure once you fire someone you don't have control on where they coach, but you owe them the money in the contract unless they are coaching.
