Anyone hear about the new PETA campaign?

They are going to call fish=sea kittens to try to get people to sympathize for the fish and not us horrible savage fisherpeople. I guess that makes us kittenmen and women doesn't it or does it make us pole cats? This also adds to the ways one can skin a cat grin Well, I don't know about you folks but my honey hole has been changed to the purrfect spot! I also think that catting has taken on new meaning and just to get out is the cats meow blush So this weekend I'm going kitten sittin and hope to scratch out enough for a meal or two grin Here kitty, kitty laugh

Earlier this year I was getting bait in Pelican Rapids. As I was paying for a scoop of fatheads the lady behind me said wouldn't it be more humane to use artificial bait. I turned around and said I was just trying to save them from some mean fisherman putting a hook through their back. And that if she would make a donation I would also try to save some shiners. To many people started laughing or it might have worked.

I wish if they were going to call me a kitten hunter they could at least use the other word for kitten. The one that starts with a P P**** Hunter. Not really fitting since I'm married, but it sounds much better.

If I had enough confidence or success with just artificial bait, i would be there in a second. It is more "humane" but also practical, as one does not need to aerate art ificials, and can catch and re-catch on the same tubes, etc...

maybe i could get to that point someday, but for now i have uses for minnows, waxies and crawlers, and even the occasional craw-dad, but to go competelty artificial would, to me, be ideal.

PETA tried to throw off my hunting season one year in Northwestern Minnesota.... They were on some adjacent State Land screaming, hollering, and banging pots and pans.... little did they know, that they chased a nice 8 pointer right to me.... one shot, and dropped em... (The deer - not PETA sillys) What a great feeling to see the look on their faces when i pulled it to the edge of the woods to dress the animal.... they called me every name in the book, but i grabbed the heart from the carcass and bit the tip off - just like the do in the movies.... 2 ladies got sick and barfed onsite.... the rest left in horror... it felt good to end the season on a gr8 note! THANKS PETA

Thats a good one

I would have had the CO's all over them for hunter harassment!

So if small fish are sea kittens, when they grow up they would be Catfish, right???We can all go around and proudly call ourselves Catfishermen. Except for those who catch the grown up version of sea puppies, which are called dog fish. So if the petafreeks don't want to catch fish, that leaves more for me.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
