mikey03
Just would like to see anyones predictions for this up coming snow goose season. I'm personally getting way too excited! gonna have to start gather up all the dekes and gear and getting the trailer ready for some action
ChuckN
Mud, mud and more mud! That's my prediction. Kinda like this: North Dakota has a lot of snow and it's going to be an interesting spring/migration. Hope this spring doesn't host several blizzards like last year. That played with the migration a wee bit. Reports of a great '08 hatch, lots of juvies?? We'll see. I'm excited too.
longbeard34
Does anyone no if many snow geese migrate through Talcot or Heron Lake??
IceHawk
Right on Chuck I got a feeling she is going to be a sloppy one this spring!
mikey03
Hopefully alot of sheet water along with the slop! makes it a little harder to set up but like you were saying suppose to be a good juvie rate!! oh boy should be a good one! dcbassman
Does anyone no if many snow geese migrate through Talcot or Heron Lake?? Why drive a little further west and be in the middle of the flyway?
longbeard34
where west you talking?? sodak?
carpshooterdeluxe
i personally hope against the sheet water this spring. the area we hunted that had sheet water made the birds very unpredictable and spread out this past spring. on the plus side there could be a very well defined snow line and that could really stack the birds up. on the negative side, thats where everybody and their mother will be sneaking, jumping, piggin, and generally causing chaos for the decoy boys. ironman
Looking forward to it, seen lots of juvies this fall should be a good spring weather permitting. My buddy and I are getting pretty pumped. Anyone want to join forces? We have a trailer full of silo socks, some bigfoots and misc and we are using xlandr blinds. minimize the cost and maximise the killin. DuckDog
I would absolutely love to go snow goosin' - is this the type of hunt you leave your dog at home?
carpshooterdeluxe
I would absolutely love to go snow goosin' - is this the type of hunt you leave your dog at home? that depends....does your dog retrieve? does he break at the sight of birds? will he sit still next to a blind? will he heel or kennel on command? DuckDog
She will sit and lay down and stay on command. She does break once shots are fired and a bird goes down. She is about 18 months old.
carpshooterdeluxe
She will sit and lay down and stay on command. She does break once shots are fired and a bird goes down. She is about 18 months old. can she sit still while 1-5000 birds tornado over your spread hanging up for minutes at a time at 100 yards? carpshooterdeluxe
carpshooter, take me with you lol im still looking for guys to take me! so far ive only got 1 6 day trip planned; some buddies from minnesota are coming down again. last year we did okay; shot 60+ over the course of 3 decoy hunts, but 1 day out of the three we had 41...should have done better on the other two days but e-caller issues ruined a lot of our time in the field. hard to make 500 sillosocks sound realistic with a quickly dying battery... SledNeck
I may just take a spring/hunt/scout for fall trip out in ND this spring. My buddies from Ar. wanna come pay us back and shoot some northern birds this fall.
carpshooterdeluxe
i have a possible trip in the works for north dakota; but the problem with that state in the spring is the birds sometimes blast right through and dont hang around. but, if theres a good snow line this spring, it wont be too tough to pick on the juvies in may. Roosterslayer05
Carpshooter- When you use the E-caller does someone in the party "DJ" the nobs while geese work different sides of the spread? Iv heard of guys doing this but have never done it myslef, how is this done correctly?
carpshooterdeluxe
last spring on the old e-caller setup, we had a power switch in the blind, as well as the mp3 player. volume was controlled off the mp3 player. i think we only ran 4 speakers. this spring its going to be a new e-caller and i have not seen it in person yet. not sure if there will be surround sound volume control or not. i think on the old e-caller the output off the amp was set for quiter speakers in front of us and louder speakers behind us or something along those lines. WallyGader
I just bought 15 boxes of shells that were on sale at wal-mart the other day, cant wait to put the hurt on whitey this spring but with the expected sloppy conditions i dont think we are going to take a shot at the leading edge birds this year. The juvies should put on a nice show this spring though.

ditchparrotspreferred
I'm looking to pick up a magazine extender for a snow goose hunt in the spring. I have a SBE II - any suggestions?MB
stretch
i have one that holds 10 3 1/2" shells. i got it from cactus tactical. i got it pretty quick and it's a fair price. i believe my extension sticks past my patternmaster by about 3/8". CrappieKiller01
i have a a sbe 2 and can hold 8, 3 inchers. never needed more then this shooting over decoys. had some buddies get cheaper model extensions and seems they dont cycle as good as other expensive ones. i think i paid around 60 for mine from cbelas. also great choke to use is the drake killer. wont find it in the store as each choke is made to fit to your gun and they also list the best shells to use for the gun.
