May have to change your name to "walleyeman" laugh

Nice fish! Thanks for sharing.

haha. im not a walleye fisherman though. i love fishing for bowfin, carp, catfish, and sucker. just for the fight. bass, pike, and crappie are my other loves =]

i rarely fish walleye. but i catch them when i am fishing for sucker, carp, catfish quite a bit. also when im crappie fishing. i mainly dont fish for them because i dont have a boat. but when i can catch them i fish for them more.

i actually caught my pb. 10lb 4oz walleye just this spring a mere 3 days before walleye opener. i was fishing for carp with corn when i caught it. i was very suprised to catch it on corn

Whats the deal with the carp carpmanjake? do you smoke'em or just doing your best to rid the lakes of them??

i smoke some of them but i release most of them. i am not the type of fisherman to just kill the fish if i dont use them. the way i see it... "we are never gonna be able to kill ALL the carp in a lake. so we gotta learn to live with them"

i am not for spearing or bowfishing either. i always want to give the fish a fair chance to win.

i often will smoke carp if i catch them under 8lbs. but anything over i just let go. since they wont do nearly as much damage as all the little ones

ya i totally get what your saying and your stance on the subject. i guess it is all personal preference. the way i see it, if i kill it and toss it in the woods, i am probably feeding a hungry critter in the woods somewhere.. and the way i look at carp is they are invasive and shouldnt be here and are screwing up our ecosystems and game fish, so the less of them the better.

did you by chance see the story in the paper yesterday with the video of them pulling all those carp out of the ice? pretty cool to see. i guess if they pulled all those out, there would only be a couple left, and if u fished for em in the lake and got em, and killed em=problem solved.

just my $.02

ya i seen that. but they still dont takeout ALL the carp.

and the carp are not really to blame. the US government started stocking them (around the 1900's i think)

they were stocked for commercial fishing purposes.

and if you fish for carp, even if you catch and kill 50 carp in a day. (which is rare) you will only put a small dent in the population.

but anyway...

enough arguing about carp lol.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
