Marcum LX2 interference

SP180

Recommended Posts

Spent the morning on the lake with no other flashers with in 5 miles and had constant interference in the bottom 5 foot. I was able to see my lure, but it always looked like interference around unless the gain was turned down till i could not see the lure. Does anyone have any idea what that might be? I am using a Marcum LX2.

No fish, it just jumped around. the only thing that was consistant was the lure. I moved around and had the same problem in every hole. The lake has no vegetation. Brush yes, but not where i was at.

I was just reading an article in the 2009 ice fishing guide. And theres a deal about plankton moving up and down the water column at sunrise and sunset, and that the movement can show up on a flasher if theres a big enough cloud of them. Maybe that was it. I've never experienced that. Just another theory.

that just happened to me the other day but it was just the bottom foot or two...i think it was baitfish but plankton could of been possible or some other living insects or something down there lol.

other times i pull out my transducer and rub it a few times with my thumb to clean it off then drop it back down the hole....or turn it off and turn it back on...check the connections to.

Its possible the timing of the unit is off. I've owned an LX-2 for 3 yrs now, after the 1st year I was having trouble maintaining bottom readings but would still get signals through out the water column...maybe give nature vision a call, if its still under warranty they will fix the unit.

I had this happen about a month ago. I was fishing and about 2 hours in I started to get what I thought was interference. About 30 or 40 mins later it stopped, than about 2 hours later it started again. I had my underwater camera with so I put it down, it was a school of hundreds of bait fish. About an hour after that I caught a 26 1/4" walleye, my pb.

I have to say is my bro has a LX3 and is having the same problem. I use a vex and some guy said you cant run a vex and a maccum at the same time in the same house. So i turned off my vex and there was no diffence the interfence was still there.

He just bought a new batt to see if the batt was going bad. All

So my bro turned off the maccum and i turn on the vex and there was nothing down there. No weeds or bit fish.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
