harvey lee
MarCum announces “High Power Challenge” ice fishing eventsBrainerd, MN, November 25, 2008 – MarCum announced today a series of ice fishing events designed to showcase the features and superior output power of MarCum sonar units. Among ice fishing industry insiders,MarCum has become the recognized performance leader in flasher sonar technology. The MarCum High Power Challenges have been designed to give ice anglers a hands-on opportunity to see and use MarCum products in a real world fishing setting. During each free event, participants are invited to bring along their current ice fishing sonar unit, and compare it to a MarCum. Or simply observe and interact with the MarCum pro-staff, who will be on hand to provide tips on getting the optimum performance out of a MarCum flasher.“MarCum has always offered ice anglers the finest flashers available,” says sonar expert, Jon Marshall. “With so many competing products on the market today, we just felt it was time to let people see for themselves the difference between MarCum and everything else. Most anglers don’t know, for instance, that the MarCum LX-5 features six times more output power than the Vexilar FL-20. But it’s not just power for the sake of power. It’s expertly managed power, which yields superior return signal, target separation, and interference rejection. These are the key little details top anglers rely on. We invite anyone who’s interested in learning more to stop by and take the MarCum High Power Challenge. I think people are going to be surprised by the difference betweenMarCum and the other units.”At each Challenge event, MarCum’s staff of professional anglers will demonstrate sonar operation tips, side-byside comparisons with competing flasher brands, and advanced instruction on sonar-ice fishing applications. In addition, they will highlight the specific advantages of MarCum’s expertly managed power system. Each MarCum High Power Challenge is free and open to the public.December 20, 2008 – 12:00 Noon – White Bear Lake, MN – Ramsey Beach Public AccessJanuary 3, 2009 – 12:00 Noon – Mille Lacs, MN – Fisherman’s Wharf ResortJanuary 10, 2009 – 12:00 Noon – Upper Red Lake, MN – West Wind ResortJanuary 24, 2009 – 12:00 Noon – Gull Lake, MN – Hole-in-the-Day BayFebruary 7, 2009 – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM – Shawano Lake, WI – Shawano, WIMarCum’s product line for 2008-2009 includes the feature-packed LX-5, which boasts 2,500-watts of peak-to-peak power, vivid TrueColor display and a switchable dual-beam transducer with keypad control. hanso612
These sound great. I hope they are well attended. Midwest Mountaineering used to sell canoes on demo days like this. Nothing better than a hands on demonstration in a real world setting. Hans

Dave
The 1st Challenge day's getting closer. It's gonna be fun to compare units, live, in person. I gotta say, however, Marcum's executives must have full confidence in its flasher's capability, in order to do this. That says a lot about the company's quality and commitment right there, believing in its product line. Who's going?
Dave
With the first two Challenge events checked off the list, Upper Red Lake is next on schedule for people to perform side-by-side flasher comparisons. Learn what you "see" or "don't see" on a flasher while viewing an underwater camera is a great learning experience, as these antendees experienced. Hotspotter
A few of the Marcum Pro-staffers will be up for the Marcum High Power Challenge event this weekend. We're looking to compare/contrast all the flashers out there, and will be bringing flashers from Humminbird and Vex as well to test. We promise it'll be a no-pressure deal, with no units being sold on the ice, or any sales pitches. Come out and decide for yourself what fishes better for you! The weather looks to be better up there than anywhere else in the state, and I just talked to Jonny, the fish are biting! Give us a shout if you have any questions!Joel
