jiffy auger pull start

There's usually only 3 or 4 screws that hold the recoil assembly on. Depending on where it's broken you might be able to just retie it, but if not it shouldn't be that hard to put a new rope back on it. Just need to be careful that when you take it apart that your recoil spring don't come apart on you. The spring can be a pain to put back on right if it comes undone.

Like mentioned if the spring is not broken it takes about 5 minutes. Take the recoiler off, take the old string off, wind it clockwise i believe, string it with new rope and let it wind back taking up the new line, screw it back on and tie up the handle. Its vague but i hope that gets you somewhere.

When I have done it.... I stick a screwdriver down into the recoil untill the new rope is tied, that way it wont rewind untill I am ready for it to. Probably not the recomended method, but it works.

I make sure I have all the tools to do this job every time I go out. For those who are wondering, the laces off your boots will often work on short notice. In fact I think I still have a boot lace on my jiffy.

Does your spring rewind up in the housing or the recoil rope pulley. The easiest way to reinstall the spring is to straighten it out, start the anchor end in the housing and then use your thumbs to rotate the spring back into the housing or pulley.

You will almost never get the spring back by rewinding the spring and then trying to reinstall the spring.
