pinkfloyd4ever
Is this even possible? Say, hypothetically, I had some pink floyd DVDs that are not on CD. Can the music be burned off the DVD and recorded onto a CD?
0 Caleb S
Yes, however; I do not believe it is legal.
0 Valv
Besides legality issues you have to find out if they will fit. There's a reason they are on DVD instead of CD.A DVD single layer holds 4.5gb of data, a CD only 650mb, which means it will take approx 7 CDs to hold same data 1 DVD does. 0 Sandmannd
The best bet woudl be to play it on a DVD player and have the sound go into your computer. You could record it then with some free ware. Once it's recorded you can put the music on a CD or two. The Music itself would fit on a CD the DVD is that size because of the video. I believe as long as you own the DVD you won't be breaking any laws.
0 delcecchi
If you search for "rip dvd audio" you will find several sites. I think Winamp will do it. And it is free
0 upnorth
Is this DVD video too? As mentioned earlier, there is a huge difference in capacities between a CD and DVD. CD = 700 MB and DVD = 4 GB close to 6 times as much on DVD. If your DVD is video too you will have to find a way to play the DVD and record the music to the PC and then create a CD from that. Make any sense?
0 pinkfloyd4ever
Ok, sounds good, I see what people are talking about.Could do it the old fashioned way and play the DVD and run my AV cords to a stereo and record them onto good ol' cassette tapes! 0 mnflyfisherman
Last time I did something like this I used a program called virtualdub. It takes both video and audio off of DVD if it isn't copy protected--which my project wasn't--yours likely is.Worth a shot though. It's freeware.--Matt
