Kluge - Ice Auger

I feel like a kid in a candy store!

My dad gave me his 1970 Kluge ice auger. We have a cabin up on Burntside lake, outside of Ely, and we used to use it to drill holes for getting water in the winter.

Dad does not use the cabin in the winter anymore, so he decided to give the auger to me to use.

Wow! this thing is really cool. It has a clutch on it!

He brought it up to Clearwater, MN to have Doug Kluge rebuild the carb and give it a "once over".

Doug told him that this is the best kept Kluge auger he has ever seen.

Dad bought it in the late 60?'s I think for $129 (He still has the receipt!

I have used this thing a few times already this year, and it is really fun to fire this thing up. It is kinda neat to rev it up and pop the clutch and let the shavings fly.

I had a buddy time how long it took to drill a hole 13" deep, and it took 8 seconds LOL.

I was up at Doug Kluge's shop and he has some pretty amazing stuf he is working on as far as augers are concerned.

Anybody else have a vintage Kluge auger?

I have my father's old Kluge post hole auger. It hasn't been used in many years. I cleaned it up and got it running. I would like to have it rebuilt by Kluge. I can't find any info on their shop in Clearwater MN. Could someone help me out? Thanks
