Personally, I wouldn't splice the cable.

I'd cut it to the desired length and reterminate with the proper connector (involves soldering...but then so does a good splice).

Dunno what the connector is on yours, but on mine it is a five-pin DIN circular jobbie that just plugs into the back of the TV monitor. If yours is the same as mine, it should be Digikey P/N CP-1050-ND . It's only $1.23 for the connector, but add shipping and tax (DigiKey is in MN).

As best I can tell with some crude measurements, Digi-Key p/n CP-1050-ND is like the one on my camera cable.

I should note though, I don't have a genuine Aqua-Vu, it's one of those $99 jobbies from Harbor Freight. For some reason I thought the connector was the same as on the standard Aqua-Vu, but mebbe not.

Here are a couple pics that show the connector on my camera and the back of the monitor.

The camera adapter came loose on the back of my Aqua-Vue. I took the monitor apart to try and fix and did more damage than good. I called Nature Vision to get the part and they do not sell this part. I could send the monitor in for repair $40, or get a new monitor $50. I chose to hard wire the camera cable to the monitor. I wire tied the camera cable to the monitor in 2 places to protect connections from pulling. I think this is better than original. Now I do not have to hook and unhook the camera from the monitor on every trip.
