An interesting afternoon of fishing

I am out by myself on the in-laws small lake doing some pike fishing.

About 30 minutes into fishing a muskrat tries to swim up the hole. So, I stomp at it and back down it goes. It did that 4 times in the next hour!! He was persistent, to say the least.

Then I caught a northern, sort of. I was jigging a rapala shad rap and got it to the hole. It got off and disappeared from sight, for just a split second and then WOW!!! It jumped up my ice hole and landed between my locator and LP tank. I grabbed him and threw him out the shack. No hooks in him at all!

So between the muskrat coming up the hole and the northern jumping out of the water unhooked, it was quite the afternoon!!

i woulda drilled a hole outside of the shack so the rat could get out there

Around 24"- never did measure him.

Now if every fish I lost would just jump onto the ice...haha

Sadly, I had had no "treats" that day.

I can't imagine what would have happened if I would have....

i had a sun fish swim up myu hold and landed on the ice right next to the hole last night just a little guy but i never had him hooked or any thing very funney
