winter fish fry

Going to get rid of the last of some fish myself and some other buddies have on the 28th. I am planning on using my outdoor deep fryer, in the garage, will be heated that with some electric heaters and propane heat(yes I will have the garage vented) as well. I have some left over oil from this summer, currently in the garage and a wee bit cold; will this oil still be ok if I bring it inside for a few days to thaw? Also, any other concerns for frying the fish when it is so cold out?

Merry Christmas!!

bhs91, Provided the oil hasn't gone rancid or nothing was burned in it previously, it should be good. If you can, just squeeze it into your deep fryer and start heating it in there. I always filter my cooled oil and store it in plastic 2 gallon water jugs. They are squeezable too. Even though your garage is vented, You might want to conside doing the cooking outdoors. Both from the potential firehazard aspect and so your vehicles don't smell like a fishfry for the rest of the winter. I did a fry 2 weeks ago this Friday, outside, on the lee side of the garage and it wasn't bad at all. Good Luck and Enjoy!! Phred52
