How Loud Is Your Generator?

I am just wondering people with non Honda generators, how loud is your generator? dB Wise. If you know.

Loud enough that I don't use it on the lake! Buy a Honda, wish I did..............

Mine is as loud as an auger at idle. I built an insulated box with breather vents that sits on legs about waist high. When I put the cover on the box I cant hear it more than 15ft away.

riverfishingmiss could you tell me a little bit more about your box i got a generator with a honda engine but it is a little to loud i think if i had something like what you got i could use it .....

I built the box out of 3/4in. treated plywood and used 2in tvec insulation. Just cut a two in hole on one side for exhaust and another one one the opisite side for intake and another smaller one on the top for heat to escepe. When building make sure you make it big enough to leave room for air circulation. My generator is 30in by 24in and24in tall so I made mine around 1 and1/2 times the size of the gen. and it has worked well for me the last few years.

Do you haul that on a snowmobile trailer? That cover would fill up a pickup box for sure.

Tis easier to buy a Honda 2000i...

put it in back of your pickup bed with topper,and close,works well for me,and i have a honda 2000.

59 db or less, but then I have the Yamaha 2400. Quiet as the Honda 2000 just more power available when you need it. There are some things you can't run with the 2000 that I can run with the 2400.

I too was thinking about building a box for the generator, but wasn't sure if that was the smartest thing. I have some sound proof material that I can use. I think I will give it a shot.

I bult the box for security reasons as well. I had a genarator stolen from right out side my perm on red lake a couple years back while we were sleeping.With this big box I constructed it adds about 80 lbs they would have to run away with. I dont know maybe im just being parinoid.

I bought a Champion from Cabelas two years ago for $300.00. The cheapest Honda I have seen was $800.00. The Champion is a little louder, but not $500.00 louder. I put mine about 25' feet away from the house and have to try very hard to hear it. At night, I chain it in the back of my ATV.

I have a Yamaha and when it is in the pickup box running unless you walk right by the truck box and listen you don't notice it running
