I attached the 2x2's with Brass wood screws, every 6 inches apart. Was able to do it at an angle under the lip of the sled itself. So it is not visible.

Very nice! I currently have a clam 5600 but will be getting a flip over for next year with mod like this (hopefully that nice) so pups can be off the floor. Thanks for sharing.

i used 3/4 x 1 5/8" pine for framing. 3/16 luan for the plywood compartments and 3/8 for the top deck. no need to go with 3/4 anywhere. I will post some pics soon. good luck

did you screw it into the sled also or just have it in there?

Lukernleever, any idea how much weight you added? I would like to do something like this with my fish trap guide but I am not sure if it is worth it if it will add a ton of weight since the only time I usually use it is for walking out. Once the ice gets thick I use the wheel house.

my guess, i would say I added at least 25 pounds. but it pulls real ez by hand in the snow. I was not concerned for weight to be honest. More concerned for durability.

I know and appreciate that others are concerned about weight. Using an ATV or the truck 90% of the time i am on the ice.

I hope to own a wheel house some day. I am moving to Wyoming, So i am sure I would be one of the first with a wheelhouse out there.
