Jackpine Rob
No doubt they are a specialty craft.Of course, there is no perfect "go anywhere - do anything" canoe made yet. I wouldn't want one of those short little beasts on a paddling trip in Quetico, but it might be nifty for fishing stream trout in some of the stocked lakes, or putting along smaller waters with a small outboard or trolling motor. I would never own one. I fish/camp/canoe those small SE MN rivers almost every week in the summer and can think of better choices for even that situation. Not to mention if you want to do anything on another body of water.Glad you are happy with it, but (since I see you are from Lanesboro) do you take it out by yourself at HWY 250?It is just such a Herculean effort to move those boats around, it just isnt worth it to me. Se Mn FishSlayer
Why get out there when there is a easy spot about 1 hour down stream plus i wouldnt want to miss the good fishing between 250 and the dnr take out
Chode2235
I guess I would do that too if my boat weighed 80 lbs.See you out there.
Duffman
Different paddle strokes for different folks. My OT Discovery was a beast to portage in the BW, so we planned our trips with that in mind. Limit the portages, stuck to bigger lakes, and I always thought it was more adventurous dragging and handlining the thing thru rapids vs carrying that 80lb chunk of plastic. Now I've got 33 lbs of portaging bliss to carry, it's the packs that I complain about these days. That river ridge would be both fun to fish and hunt out of on certain bodies of water. Whatever gets ya out on the water, beats being shorebound.
