instant structure

I was on hsolist looking for a deal on an Aquavu camera when I found a company manufacturing "weeds/structure" that will attach to any underwater camera. They also make instant structure for those who dont use cameras for ice fishing. They call the products camera cable structure and structure on a string. Does anyone have one of these products or seen one?

My first though is what the CO is going to say when your "Camera" is a christmas tree.

Never heard of the structure on a string before. Might need a hole larger than 10" to get all of your 'structure' and underwater camera through the ice.

On a similar note, I saw the new Aqua View cameras are in the shape of a 3D fish painted for various species. I hope some 20lb Northern isn't hungry for crappie otherwise, there goes the new Aqua View

I bought one of these for 9.99 it's just a plastic vine that you twist around your camera cable. Probably could have bought the same thing at hobby lobby or craft store for 1.99 looks like it might help I guess I'll find out this winter.

Pardon my stupidity, but is it legal to put structure down the hole? I really don't know. Also, I've seen people that put egg shells down the hole and also some kind of beans (in shallow water) so that they can see the fish better on dark bottoms.

Yup good old egg shells.
My dad tought me that for spearing.Big breakfast then out to the lake for some pike.
I don't know for sure that the "structure" might be illegal.An email to the DNR would tell you for sure.
On another note.
I have a little trick that I used to use when fishing in a perm to attract fish to you.
Thread a bunch of Colorado spinners to a line.12 or so. Loop beads around the line to keep them seperated by about 4 to 6" and jig it up and down in an extra hole and fish out of another hole close to it.I think it looks like a school of bait fish and will bring fish in from some distance.

Just a ? for Dennis Steele. Does the spinnerblade line count as a line or can you still use two other lines? sounds like a good idea i might have to try it this winter.

To tell you the truth I don't know.It was never an issue as I would have a bobber rig down one hole while jigging the spinners out of another.When the fish came in I would pull up the spinners and jig out of that hole.

I tried out that camera cable stucture. I think it helped quite a bit. Caught more fish last year than I had in some time. Outfished my friends easily. I'm going to keep using it.

I believe it has to have a hook attached to be considered a line. As long as you are just using it as an attraction with no hooks attached I don't think it counts as a line but you may want to review the regs to make sure.

Thanks for the info. I just got back to town and will check with the wisconsin DNR today about the legal issues but there is nothing in the regs. I will post what I find out.

i checked with the minnesota game and fish department and the wisconsin dept of nat resources and they both said that using this type of artificial structure is legal.
i am going to purchase one or two and i will let you all know what i think after trying them. thanks for the responces.

I've never tried artificial structure. Is it legal to move some lake rocks by picking them in fall, then dropping them through the hole to make structure? It doesn't seem like it should be, anyone know?

I have used a large glow rattle spoon in one hole and fished out of the other. The noise and light seems to attract schools of crappies. It's a good way to look for new panfish spots. Make a hole, check your depth and structure, then drop a rattle in the hole with the transducer. If you show solid red after a minute of noise-making, set up.

I saw this in a fishing mag. this summer and thought it looked great. I made my own for 1/3 the cost (3 ofr the price of one I used it for about 1 week under my per. fish house. I did not see better fishing but I did have fish swim around it with my line and that's a big mess! That is just how it worked for me more work then it was worth for me. I like the spinner idea though. I love trying different things like this. Half the fun is making it.
