Hawk Ridge going strong!

More than 22,000 raptors were counted along Hawk Ridge above Duluth yesterday, so the annual autumn migration is in full swing.

Of course, more than 21,000 of those were broad-winged hawks, but 12 other species of raptor also were tallied yesterday.

Bring on the hawks!

I believe this coming weekend will bring the annual Hawk Ridge public lectures and events, too, and it's a great time to head over there.

It stinks to live 275 miles from fun. I was there in September one time and counted a total of 2 hawks. I believe the wind was from the wrong direction that day.
