Another computer technical question

LwnmwnMan2

Question

My wife has a certain VERY popular shopping channel / HSOforum that she visits often, yet on the computer, she's hardly ever able to view the images.

We only have this issue with this exact HSOforum, and 1 out of 30 times to the HSOforum the pictures show.

We have this problem with 4 different computers, and it doesn't matter if it's with IE7 or Firefox 3.

It's www dot qvc dot com and if I could get this to work, then maybe, well, for you married guys, you know how good this would be if I could get the pictures to show all the time.

I would just take it as a sign that your wife is just not to be shopping on line. grin At least not at QVC.

So, let me get this right. It worked for a while when you used Google Chrome as your browser and then stopped working? That is very very odd.

Trust me, she gets enough from the TV, seeing as she can DVR something coming up that looks interesting.

At least now I've gotten her to check prices with different websites, as you can usually find stuff cheaper.

It saves time going to the mall to look at Christmas presents, she can do the shopping all year.

Anyways, yes, right when I installed Chrome on my computers, all the pics showed. Now we're back to none.

Another thing that's weird, I can view all the pics on my Samsung i760, smartphone with Windows mobile.

I'm thinking there's a setting that's cutting out either in the router or the modem. It's pretty much gotta be in my line somewhere.

Reboot your router/firewall.

Then go to start

Run, key in "cmd" hit enter

Key in "ipconfig /flushdns"

That will clear any DNS entries hanging around in cache, worth a shot.

Nope... didn't do any better.

It's odd, because there are some products that have both pictures and videos of the item, and we can see the videos, we can watch the TV feed live, we can get everything else, but it's just the one HSOforum, for whatever reason, we cannot see the pics consistantly.

I don't know... I'm giving up. Ripping the back pockets off my jeans since I had this in them, and then it's gone again. Woulda been nice to pull getting the pics up outta that pcoket and say "hey, remeber all the hassle I had to get those pics to show consistantly?" when I come home with a new thing-a-ma-jig.

Guess she'll just have to surf on my smartphone.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
