Lakes and Baitfish

I’m trying to find info on the types of minnows (baitfish) that are in any given lake. I didn’t find anything from the dnr HSOforum, unless I’m missing something there.

Get a minnow trap, that's probably the easiest way.

Any bait suggestions for the trap so as to catch a wide variety of baitfish? I hear saltines and dog food can be used but not sure if that targets something specific.

I have used dog food seems to bring in variety of things.
