BobT
Wouldn't the oaks make for a pretty good food plot in themselves? If I'm not mistaken, I believe deer crave acorns.Bob
UdeLakeTom
We have oaks all around our hunting area, but if you have hamburgers on the table next to steaks, what are you going to go for. The food plot is there also during the spring and summer months, while acorns are only there in the fall. Also there are different proteins and nutriants in the food plot that the deer are looking for to bulk up for the winter months. Each food the deer eat has a different reason. During hard winter, they will eat bark and browse just to survive, but they don't get much out of them.
