Favorite Caliber For Black Bear.

What is your favorite rifle and caliber for hunting Black Bear over bait?

I have used both my 50 cal. muzzleloader and a ruger 270 rifle.

I'd say bears over bait are made for bows.

30-06 with 180 grain bullets have proved effective.

Gosh - I wonder if there was lead in the bear meat I ate!

I've only used my .44 Redhawk with 250 gr. American Eagle hollow points.

I agree with Hub, I really love hunting bear with a bow, but as busy as the last few years have been for me an it's not slowing down either, I choose my muzzle loader. Just cant get regular practice in to feel confident enough to launch a stick at them. Boar
