nofishfisherman
I just had one of the best meals of my life the other day for my 5th wedding anniversary. My wife and I made reservations at Pazza Luna in downtown St. Paul, I was a bit put off by the prices but it ended up being worth every penny. I had the veal tenderloin over a bed of homemade pasta, several kinds of mushrooms and some sort of tomato cream sauce. The veal was so tender they must have just wiped the milk from its chin before bringing it to the table. I believe it was $30 for my dinner but like I said it was worth every penny. I encourage anyone in the area to give it a try if they are looking for a nice place to take the wife.
Hotspotter
Funny, it seems like the most memorable meals I've ever had have been "surprise" memorable, rather than planned memorable. Maybe that's what makes them so? These were places we just decided to try out and/or found along the way like Dtro's story. The smaller the sign the better the food usually, and I've got two such places, both in Montana by coincidence that tie.1) Some mexican place in Bozeman, MT. It was someone's house, converted to a Mexican place, but you couldn't really tell it was a restaurant. Out of the way, hard to find, all those things plus phenomenal food made it great.2) Some steak place near Sheridan, MT. While watching the grazing angus cattle outside the window we asked where the steak comes from. Ask a stupid question, you get a stupid look. I've had wagyu and other "fancy" beef, but something about seeing what you're eating brings the whole thing full-circle if you know what I mean. Did I mention I've yet to have a steak that tasted that good? It's been 5 years. Joel
