I want to get another hunting knief for gutting deer or whatever the case might be. Just wanted to get a feel for what everyone thinks might be the best knief out there. I have a Buck knief now, but looking for other options.

Thanks

I personly use Old Timer knifes, Imperial Shrade, I have had my knife for 10 years now, Its by no means a "fancy knife", but it gets the job done for me every time. My Dad used one so thats prolly a big reason I use the same knife today.

You gotta go with a cutco knife. They are more well known for their kithen cutlery but they make a fillet knife and a hunting knife that are amazing. You will never have to sharpen them and the come with a lifetime warrenty-doesnt get any better than that. And also they make it so you cant cut urself too.

Gotta agree with the Knives of Alaska. I've been using my Cub Bear for about 4 seasons now. It's a small, sturdy knife that really takes nicely to the stone. I have the larger Bush Camp knife as well, but haven't found a need for it with a deer yet.

My recommendation is to have more than one knife, one for gutting small game and one for deer gutting. Doing small game is tough on the edge when you're taking off leg and wing bones. When I'm gutting deer I want that thing sharp!!! so when I go around the bung or cut the belly fur it just slides thru.

I have a folding Buck and folding Shrade for my deer hunting knives and a silver and black fixed blade Buck for the rest.

I like ontario rat knife in D2 steel. I've been using mine for a couple of years now and it's been doing great. KOA knives also gets my vote too. Both very quality knives and a little spendy. Like they say you get what you pay for. I know there are other good quality knives out there too but these are the ones I've owned and have been very happy with the purchase.
