Best Chip For Minnesota Lakes?

Last year at the end of the season I bought a Lowrance 522C GPS/Sonar for the boat. I'm looking for advice on what would be the best chip to buy for lake maps that will work with my unit. I fish Minnesota only.

All input is greatly appreciated.

One thing I noticed between the two chips was how much faster my H20 ran with the Lakemaster chip, also the Lakemaster has many more roads and other land marks built in. If i had to get 1 it would be the Lakemaster.

I would get the Lakemaster. With the Navionics you are constantly changing codes to find the lakes you want to fish. Lakemaster has everthing readily available without putzin with codes. I own both and rarely use the navionics chip.

Is the data on the Lakemaster chip the same as the Lakemaster maps you can buy from Garmin for Garmin GPSs? I already have a handheld GPS and I wonder if I can use it with the Lakemaster maps that com on the DVD rather than buying the chips.

Yes Eric it is the same data.

I have both Garmin and a Lowrance H2Oc and bought the chip for the H2Oc instead of the CD from Garmin because my Garmin unit is B&W and slower.

Check the lakes on the CD before you buy to make sure yours is on there.

BTW, Garmin just recently (2 years) started doing this, which is a nice option if your unit doesn't accept data cards.

Thanks! I like to use a GPS separately from a fish finder so I can plan a trip on my computer. Then I can put way points and other notes in on my computer. I can upload to my GPS and have all the information I need in one place.
