AMSOIL Saber Professional is for all your Air Cooled 2-cycle premix machines: Your Auger, String cutter, back-pack blower, hedge trimmer, chain saw, etc. etc. You can run it as lean as 100-1, but many people prefer to run it richer. 80-1 is a ratio many are conformtable with. 50-1 is probably richer than you need to be, but in most machines it will still be nearly smokeless.

To everyone who has been singing the praises of this oil---THANK YOU.

When I first told the hubby about it he turned his nose up and said "never heard of it". He filled our old strikemaster magIII for me one day with gas, I asked him if he was sure he had oil in it. He insisted he did, took the auger out, drilled around 8 holes and it started to sound really rough and it quit. Tried to get it running, and it sounded terrible so I shut it down. We figured it was smoked so we bought a new SM 2000, I insisted on using Amsoil in it, works great. I told him he could use it in the chainsaws, weedwhacker, etc. He went out today and filled them all with the amsoil gas mix, just came in and told me "That stuff is great!!!!" He has a 29 year old McCulloch chainsaw, he started it up right away, no smoke and he said it runs like it did when it was new. So I told him to empty the gas out of the old auger, fill it and try it out---it started 2nd pull and sounds great!! The gas he had put in there didn't have oil in it.

Now I have to head back to the store and buy more \:D

Another question, can I use it in our 25 hp Merc 2 stroke outboard and what should I get for it

I would like to try it but heres the thing. I only have an auger and no other uses for it. Try as I might I dont really get alot of time to go ice fishing. I'm lucky if I go through a gallon of gas during ice season. So I only buy/mix gas a gallon at a time. They dont sell Amsoil in sizes specifically made for 1 gallon. You either have to buy to little or to much. So until they start offering it in amounts measured for 1 gallon I will be using other products. I tried contacting them to see if they had any plans to offer it in a size suitable for 1 gallon, but they appearently dont feel the need to converse with potential customers

Yep, they have little pouches specifically for mixing with a gallon. I have the quart bottle, but I use it in many things. If you only need it for the auger a few months of the year, the small packs would be the way to go.

Don't use the Saber Professional in your outboard.

Is your 25hp Merc a pre-mix or an oil injected engine?

Pre-mix you have 2 choices:

Saber Outboard for premix, use as lean as 100-1 in outboards. Saber Outboard is in 8-oz bottles that will mix the 6-gallon marine cans, and is in quarts.

HP Injector can be used as a 50-1 premix or in all oil injected outboards. HP Injector is available in quarts and gallons.

You can order direct through any of my links.

I don't know who you tried to reach. A lot of dealers are part time only. I am full time, and most phone calls to me go straight to my cell phone, and my phone number is in my signature below in nearly all my posts.

AMSOIL has had the "pillow packs" of Saber Professional for pre-mix air cooled 2-cycle engines for many years. We also have a bottle sized to mix a 2 to 2 1/2 gallon can, 8-oz to mix 5 to 6 gallon can (with markings on the side for how much per gallon of gas, and quarts to mix 25 gallons.

Premix, I went to the web page and figured out what I need. Thanks for all the info!

Like I said I dont have a lot of space to store open canisters of oil, and even by amsoils recommened mix ratios per gallon the "pillow Packs" are designed for more that 1 gallon. You'd think that if they recommend 1.3 oz per gallon they would make 1.3 oz pillow packs not 1.5 oz.

1.5-oz Pillow Pack

1.5-oz. Pillow Packs (case of 48)

3.5-oz. Bottle

3.5-oz. Bottles (case of 12)

8-oz. Bottle

8-oz. Bottles (case of 12)

1-Quart Bottle

1-Quart Bottles (case of 12)

30-Gallon Drum

55-Gallon Drum

recommended mixture

2.6 oz. per 1 U.S. gallon 50:1

8 oz. per 5 U.S. gallons 80:1

1.3 oz. per 1 U.S. gallon 100:1

8 oz. per 6 U.S. gallons 100:1

If you add the 1.5 oz pack to a gallon, you'll end up at about 85:1. If you're concerned about being at exactly 100:1 than add 1.175 gallons to the 1.5 ozs. The difference between the 2 ratios isn't much. I personally run everything at 80:1.

Yes, the 1.5 oz pillow pack will give you a little richer than 100-1. There is a safety factor built in. When you open the packet are you sure you got ALL the oil out? You will usually leave a small amount behind, totally unknown exactly how much. A little extra just guarantees you will always get enough. It will never hurt to use a little extra.

I have ran both the Saber outboard and the HP in my outboard. Talked a freind into running it in his old Mercury Black Max 175 race motor. He was hesitant at first but in the end we were able to lean it down to 75:1 on the HP oil. Could have went more, but it's a pretty spendy motor. It's serviced regularly and gone through every year. He noticed no wear what so ever on the bores, piston and rings. That motor can idle down to trolling speed with this idle. I'm sure we looked funny going across the lake at Idle in a Hydrostream! It's didn't even start to foul a plug. I have my reasons to not run it in a high RPM Snowmobile engine, but i do run it in my boat and all my vehicles. It's good stuff. Put in it your car and see how it smooths things out. Just be sure to run the Amsoil filter. No i'm not an Amsoil dealer, just a happy customer.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
