LundExplorer
I'm at the point on my deck project where I need to pour the footings. I used 12" form tubes. Since I don't want to have the truck back across my lawn and rut it all up, I'll be either pushing a wheelbarrow or using a small lawn cart behind my atv. Question is, is there a better, faster way to get the concrete from the cart into the tube other than shoveling? I have 12 footings to do, 2 yards of concrete, and would like to not have the driver sitting and waiting for us to shovel it out of the cart.I was envisioning a funnel or chute-like device. Anyone ever built one? Can you rent one??Thanks!
GSB Ice Man
I have poured many of those sono tubes. 12" tubes are easier to pour than the 8" or 10". I would just shovel some of the concrete out and then tip the wheelbarrow into the sono tube with a buddy guiding it in.
Roofer
Truck drivers are by the hour. They won't care as long as they aren't close to their limit on the drum count. You are pretty close to the redi-mix, you should be fine. Not too much work going on yet anyways.
sparcebag
Get the truck and as much help as possible and extra wheelborrows
LundExplorer
Thanks guys! Yes I decided to get the truck when I figured I'd need 90-100 60lb bags. We'll shovel some in and try to dump the wheelbarrow carefully.
Bigeye30"
It'll go faster than what you think, but if you can run two wheel barrows or three.

It will go quicker than you think.
tigerbalm2424
I wish I had a picture. I had some OSB lying around when it came time to pour my 18 12" tubes. I made a low-profile four sided funnel out of the OSB which allowed me to set it right over the tubes, then just push the wheelbarrow over the tube and dump as fast as it would come out. Total crete spilled: one gallon Money Saved Due to Truck Driver Not Waiting: Priceless! Found it! You can see it in the background.
LundExplorer
Thanks guys, the job is done. I ended up building some baffles into my lawn cart to get the concrete to flow out in the middle when tilted. It worked great! Not much spilled either.
