CSP88
I'm looking at buying one, what is the differences between the two?
Guest
The cuda just has the bells and whistles which consist of a transparent gas tank, a muffler guard and handle bar grips. Other than that theres no difference. I shopped for an eskimo years ago and was in the same shoes you're in. I decided with the Mako. So did a few of my buddies. I should have posted it in "most reliable auger"thread. You'll be very happy with a Mako. I've still got mine and in one piece, fires off every year and can keep up just fine with the others. CNY Tim
Bigguns1 - My buddy bought a mako can't wait to see it perform and it was very reasonable price wise.
korn_fish
I just purchased the mako as well. there was only the mako on display so I couldn't see the differences. so I actually pulled out the owners manual and looked at the part schmematics that were included for ordering parts. Everything was the same for part numbers....didnt look at the gas tank etc. part numbers. just the main components. The only thing I seen different in the "cuda" and the "cuda plus" was that the plus had the 3HP tecumseh instead of the 2 HP. I can't wait to get out. I actually sat in my portable last night ( in the garage ), flipped the top over me, ran my heater, had a beer and yelled TIP-UP!!!!!

I have no complaints at all about the mako. good buy.

CSP88
One more question, which blades would you recommend?
Guest
I think the call them turbo cut now, then it was something else. The ones the come on it are all the blade you need.Thoses blades are probably the best thing about a mako.
Iowa Labs
I bought a Mako two years ago and have extremely happy with it. I took a chance on it since it was on sale and have had no problems at all. I don't think that you can get a better auger for even close to the same price. Guest
I just got back from Sportsmans Warehouse in Coon Rapids and they had the 8" Mako on sale for $219!!
korn_fish
yep...and cabelas and other chains are matching prices too everything, so if you cant make it there, try your nearest outdoor specialty store and I bet they match the price....especially if its an advertised price.
