Parts for recall

Here is what my polaris dealer said:

Just a heads up. This recall is NOT a stop ride bulletin. You can definetly still use your ATV. The reason it is a safety recall is because the problem can happen when your atv is NOT IN USE. All you have to do is disconnect your battery cable when not in use. It is a "Fire Hazzard" is why it is a recall. The ECM could stay on after the key is shut off and something could get hot and cause a fire.

This is right off the Polaris Tech Sight available to dealers:

Inquiry: - Is this a stop sale or stop ride Bulletin?

Response: - All affected units in dealer inventory are to be repaired prior to sale. However,

consumers and dealers may operate affected units until repairs can be made by

disconnecting the negative (black) battery cable from the battery when the

vehicle is not in use or is left unattended.

Inquiry: - How long will the parts be on backorder?

Response: - Polaris will be shipping 500 - 1000 kits per week so place your orders

accordingly. Please do not “over order” as this creates longer lead times for all

dealers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency’s jurisdiction. Deaths, injuries and property damage from consumer product incidents cost the nation more than $700 billion annually. The CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard. The CPSC’s work to ensure the safety of consumer products - such as toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters, and household chemicals – contributed significantly to the 30 percent decline in the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products over the past 30 years.

To report a dangerous product or a product-related injury, call CPSC’s hotline at (800) 638-2772 or CPSC’s teletypewriter at (800) 638-8270.

Cheers,

Mike
