Summer time Big Bass of the Month Club.

What do you guys think? Each month, everyone posts up their biggest bass, and you can update and upgrade as the month progresses. You could put your claim to fame as BBMC monthly champion in your sig.

Stipulations -

You must name the lake it was caught on.

You should do your best to get a photo, easy to say you caught a 6 lb 14 oz bass, but proving it with a photo is always nice.

Give an equipment and conditions run down, rod, reel, line, lure, time of day, air temp, sky conditions, wind, and water temp and clarity if possible.

It can not start before bass opener, big bass on panfish gear in the spring don't count. It will run through November or first ice, as this one will be an open water deal.

What are your thoughts?

Why? You can probably remember the details of most of your big bass catches last summer still. I know I can remember all the details of my 5 or 6 biggest from last year. Just something for fun, not anything official. Having all the details are not that important, just something to help other anglers maybe figure out something new they might want to add to the arsenal.

I see your point. I can see it getting to be a big deal because someone won't want to say where they caught it and stuff like that. They tried something like this in one of the other forums and a few guys got mad because they werent posting there location and others where. I'm game for whatever

Well if there are some guys that don't want to post up the lake name, big deal. Most of us are 100% cpr on bass and know that just because someone catches a pig out of a lake doesn't mean the next guy is going to be able to go in there and catch that same fish again right away. If they don't want to say lake name, maybe just the county.

From what i read there is no prize or anything just bragging right, so post them all. i might want to take a trip out to Cali since i know what lake will be hot!!!!

It will be interesting to see if any one hits the 7 pound mark this year. (in Minnesota) Last year we seen/read about a lot of 6 pounder being caught. It would be fun to caught one this year \:\)

I got a 7 last year, but it was in Arkansas. It was certainly fun, and if a Cali guy takes BBMC honors for the month, cool. We have guys from Cali on the site, which is cool, the site is growing bigger and bigger all the time. The more the merrier.

Cali guys have to post pics though. We all want to see the piggies from the west coast waters.

CB, it was one of the biggest ever. I have caught a couple in the 7-8.5 range down there, and a bunch of 6s. The biggest I have personally seen was a 12 that my grandpa caught on a 14" crappie while he was reeling it in. That was a sight to see.

I like the idea too. It would be pretty interesting seeing the big bass and seeing specifics on how and what people used to catch them.

Also not sure if I would post some of the names of the lakes I fish since many are real small, but if that happened I guess I would just miss it that month.

I think about the same as fishcast. I would definately like to hear about when/how some big bass were caught and would be willing to share that. But as mentioned before, I fish some small lakes and would rather not post the names of some of them.

WOW a 12 that would be SWEEET!! Where do you guys fish when you go down there??

Sounds like fun to me. As far as giving up your "secret" spot, I am guessing most guys would not be running to the lake named as place caught. Everybody knows most fisherman are liars, except for me and you, although I am not to sure about you. ;\)

Set up the thread on Opening weekend Polarsus, I bet it will stay pretty active till ice up.

CB, some of them were from ponds and some are from Bayous and Rivers. When I was younger, like 20 years ago, we fished the White River a lot and got quite a few biggins out there. The 12 my grandpa caught was on a pond, but it is hard to put into perspective how big one is, until you actually see it.

My 7 was on a pond as well, I wont try to deceive anyone. But the way it was caught was just a ton of fun. Lets just say a 2" senko is going to be one of my favorite finesse baits for the season this year.

My biggest in Minnesota came from Chisago, the year after the 12" minimum was put on the lake. I got one that went an easy 5.5 closer to 6 down the shoreline a ways from my grandparents old house. I was wearing the waders on opener casting a Chartruese and Nickle spinnerbait. I picked off another around 4.5 that same day closer to their house too.

If guys don't wish to say the lake name, that is fine. I can understand that some big fish are caught in small bodies of water. I had a pike pond that I will never name the location of. Under 10 acres and loaded with thick pike, many good days out there.

I would be game, and if you want to say the lake then say it... if it is hush hush, then leave that out.

I think the winner should get a free guided bass trip from Deitz, or a round from BassNSpear...

Either one, I am Game!

ALL-IN

I think this sounds like a very fun idea.. I too would be in... and will give any information but... lake name. I dont wish to make any one lake have more pressure on it.

My personal biggest from MN is 7.2oz... and I will tell you honestly it came from Leech lake but back in 1997.. Since then I have not broken the 7 lb mark.. or even the 6 3/4... I have quite a few over 6.. last year I had 2 over 6.. year before only 1.... My personal biggest came in Florida, lake Toho in March... caught her on a tube.. went just shy of 11 lbs...

If you buy his boat, you get all the GPS waypoints. That's worth the price right there isn't it Matt?

Deitz, Toho would be a dream come true. Would love to get into some Florida bassin.

The more you guys say it, the more it makes sense to not name the lake, but if we are just talking 4s and 5s, it isn't quite as big a deal as talking about 6s or 7s. Lots of lakes put up 4s and 5s. Not everyone is going to put 6s or 7s in the boat every month of the summer.

Funny you brought that up Tom(polar), the last GPS combo unit I sold, I got an extra $100 for leaving my GPS coords on there. I wanted to zap em.. but for a cool hundo, I left them on there.. LOL... With my current unit, I might ask for more than $100.. LOL

Toho was a blast.. I fished it for 3 days, fished Stick Marsh/Farm13 for a day and fished Rodman for 2... it was a blast.. many fish in the 6-7 lb range, and had a few other hogs on, but only the one pig.. still looking for a pict to post. I think its on my work puter.

I can't wait to see that pic Deitz. Where you out with a guide, rent a boat, go with a friend, or do the crazy thing and tow your's down there? I would think fishing with a guide would give you about the best shot down there for us northerners.

For the GPS, you might have to ask for an extra 200 now right?
