Winch won't reel in

Does anyone have an idea where to start with a 650 Brute Force with a Warn Winch controlling the plow that won't return. Goes out fine . Have eliminated the switch as a problem.

What kind of switch do you have for the winch control? Is it a small toggle type or is it the round rotary one?

Small toggle but that's not the problem..actually clipped it and crossed wires.

hmmmm. If it's not at least trying to get the line in, it has to be electrical. I think Warn has instructions on their page of how the wiring is, if you didn't do it yourself. Look for the instructions from the mount, they are better instructions and are machine specific.

Maybe it's the contactor. Some of them were recalled last year. Check out the webpage and see if you can find something. I think it was the 4 post contactors that were bad.

Woops, it was the 8 post contactors. Just a guess being your 650 is probably a 05 or 06. That is when the recalled ones were sold.

It's an 06....My 24 year old son beats it like a rented mule...as he does with all my stuff...sometimes I shame him into fixing my stuff...we'll pursue this

Try switching the cables on the contactor to the opposite terminals

then if it goes in and not out the problem is most likely the contactor.
