I am sure this topic has been discussed many time before but I thought I'd bring it up again. Now that the snow has melted it is apparent that my 2 dogs have caused some damage this winter in my front yard with all the yellow spots from urine. I have 2 really bad spots out by a tree that I am concerend about, what to do?

I tried this last year, use at your own caution. I waited for the lawn to dry out and went out with a torch and sizzled those pee spots. I figured that the grass around the firepit is always green so..... It seemed to work pretty good though.

I usually put a little top soil down and then buy the Scott's Patch repair. Usually have grass in a couple of weeks. On a side note, I put tomoato juice in my dogs food. It does help to minimize the potensy of the urine cause it dilutes it. Trick my brother (who landscapes) told me and has worked over the years. Still have problems, but not as big.

I've been doing it for years and my dogs are fine. Checked with the vet and he said it's fine. What it does is makes the dogs parched a little more so they drink more water and that dilutes the urine.

I think home depot and fleetfarm sell this product made by Scotts that is a dirt that is made for filling in bare spots with grass seed. Pull the dead grass out usually will rake right out and put down this soi, lay the grass seed ontop of it and rub it into the dirt. This works great for me as ti only takes about a week or so to have thick full grass again!

I feel your pain I have to dogs that I have in a fenced in back yard. I figure I just will keep them to one area behind the house and keep up the rest. The ruin burned grass is beyond repair its at the renovation stage. My 1 yr old pup just dug up my sprinkler head today and broke the bottom part off that screws back into the head. Not a big repair but what a headache!
