Hooks

I'm going to get some replacement hooks. What should I get? I'd like to get some "standard sized hooks" for general purpose and some "slightly bigger than standard sized" ones for some specific applications. What suggestions do people have for me regarding brand and size?

On a related note, does anyone know if they're making the Triple Grips in bigger sizes yet? If yes, what would be a good size for most muskie apps?

Size, at least 3/0 through 5/0 to start. 2/0 is good for smaller stuff if you have the need. I replace many of my Mustads.

Hey Scoot, I took some good advice a few years ago and went to all 5/0 at a minimum due to the physical characteristics of a large muskies jaw size, I also will not use round bend hooks they do not lock into and around the jaw when a fish starts rolling, I lost several large fish with these and will not use them further, I prefer E/C (they look funny but they hold) at 5/0 and mustad 3551's for 6/0 and above.

I started Ting my hooks on all baits and rolling the points down when they are hooked they stay that way 9 outta 10.

Red VMC's unless i'm useing a lighter line or a smaller bait ... say 30 lb or a 2/0 hook or under.... then i go Red Diachi's, Owners, or Gami's in that order. depends on what i can get. never really used the triple grips except on the frezy baits i bought, and they seemed to work ok i guess in small sizes.

mostly mustad's - 5/0 + 7/0 - i have some 3/0 that i use and crane baits. i have had the same 25 pack of 3/0 for like 7 years now. i just find very little use for anything smaller than the 5/0.

i also have used some 5/0 vmc red hooks on some baits - phantoms and manta's mostly.
