Icemen,We are all chompin' at the bit to hit the clear, blue ice.You got to have your wits when venturing on the new formation. Wear lifejackets (preferably low profile ones) carry the picks aroun your neck and wear a good pair of ice cleats that will stay on your boots. You can assume that if you crack through, you are on your own. When it is this early, I go out with the chisel first to check it out and it has never failed me.The water underneath the ice is something that you never wan't to experience. Be safe, smart,come prepared and don't assume anything.(If venturing, if it is not comfortable for you-back up) Always Searchin......
