Trophy trout size(inches)

A 16 or 17 inch brooke trout caught in a small stream is a trophy. I lived in Colorado for 5 years fishing the Straight, Blue, Colorado and Arkansas and caught thousands of Brooke Trout never exceeding twelve inches. I caught one on a small to remain un-named stream in Northern Minnesota that was 17 inches that sits on my office wall. Nobody can convince me that fish is not a trophy.

let them all go is not good for the waterway. You get an over population of dinks. Not enough food to produce big fish.

I you want to catch only dinks than blind catch and release is the ticket.

I would say for S.E. streams anything over 23 is a Trophy, although some super rare fish come in the 27-29 range.

Fishing lake Nipigon or the river has trophy class trout like this ,I fish there 62 times last year released dozens of brook trout that size and under,one 26an a half aswell.I kept these two because i can.I don't want to stir the pot but LET'EM ALL GO whats that about we eat fish up here what do you eat Lettuce .ah just kidding don't take it personal.

PS.. the brook trout have to be 22" to keep up here

I hear what you're saying. I wasn't clear before. I did mean let them trophies go. For me personally, a trophy fish warrants release more so than any other fish.

20 is the magical number to be called big.

so if you caught a 30 inch male?
