treble
Im not real brand loyal on these but make sure you get all of the features you want/need. I would highly suggest getting one with a page/vibrate, I didnt originally and now am considering upgrading. Other than that i have no complaints with the one i got. It is a Sport Dog that was on sale at the Bismark Scheels grand opening 50% off so i couldnt pass it up.

DoubleLunger
I've had a Dogtra for 8 years and love it. No problems at all. I highly recommend,
beaver11
tri tronics field 70 is a very good collar with very long range and has a pager(beeping noise) on it so u can train your dog by the page so you don't have to shock em all the time ..sometimes you can find a good buy on reconditioned ones that that are still under warranty at [Note from Admin: Please read forum policy before posting again. jigging-matt
I have a DT Systems for my Britt. I have had great luck with it. I have friends that have both the Dogtra and Tritronics and have had good luck with both.
Pyrex
I bought a Sport dog collar for my Britt 2 years ago, never had any problems with it and its lightweight, sure it might be cheaper, but I have no complaints, you really only need them once or twice anyway, then just putting the collar on they behave, or know its time to go to work. Last fall I took it off my dog and gave it to my buddy, he was a good half a mile away and I lit him up. I thought it was funny as [PoorWordUsage],he didn't think it would work that far (he's not too smart though).

metrojoe
I bought the Sport Dog Sporthunter 1800 about 3 years ago and it has been very dependable. Very well made and durable.
kkahmann
Dckastan is right if you have hounds tri-tronics is the only way to go. With more biddable dogs most anything will do.
JConrad
Nels I have a Dogtra 1700 and think it is an excellent e-collar. I help out training dogs with one of the large kennels in our area and they also use Dogtra collars with great success. You can't go wrong and yes make sure you have a page option... svttom01
I am sure you really can't go wrong with any of the major brands, but I have been using Dogtra for the last five years and have had no issues with it at all.
ontheice4eyes
I have had the sportdog 1800 for two seasons now and really like it, it has a beep function on it and has two different shock functions. What I really like about this system though is that you can run up to three dogs on it if you are hunting with multiple dogs and then you dont have to have more than one controller hanging around your neck. TProGuy
I asked this question a few months back and didn't get many responses...I am glad people are stepping up and offering advice. I ended up getting the Dogtra 1700, and absolutely LOVE it!!!
11-87
How far do you plan to hunt with your dog? if a Pointer do you want it to range out? do you want a beeper on it to find if it's at point? Do you a have a flusher you want to keep close?Don't get a collar with a rang of 50 yards of you want the dog to run 100. I think most brands are good. I got a cabelas brand through innotek. and have had no problem with mine.
2 DA GILLS
I currently have a TriTronics Sport 50. It has been a good collar and has all the functions that I need aside from one. I should have forked over the additional funds for the beeper combo right up front. My current dog is my first pointer and I figured I did not need the beeper collar. I learned that I did. Now I have the TriTronics beeper, but I can not turn it on and off with the remote. I sure wish that I could.Does anyone out there use the Dogtra 2500 T&B collar? Any comments or reviews? I was considering this model when I replace the existing collar.
beaver11
if you don't want to spend the extra money on a beeper get a bell for your dog.if the bell stops its on point.works very well on my gsp
2 DA GILLS
I have already purchased a beeper, I just dislike that I can not turn it on and off with my remote. I am sure that a bell would work in a lot of cases, but I have had enough times where I can hardly find my dog in the cattails even with the collar beeping.I am pretty certain I want to stay with a beeper collar. I am just thinking about updating with a combo collar this year or next.
jigging-matt
That is one of the advantages that I like about my DT Systems collar. I can control the beeper from the remote. Also has two different styles of beep. one that beeps every so often then faster when he locks up, and one that only beeps when he starts to slow down and lock up on point.
