Kooba,

I think KAZ is the person that can be of big help on this subject.

I just bought a Standard Horizon Eclipse+ for $139.00 off the internet. Just go to google and type in Marine radios and you'll find a bunch. My antenna and mount came to $90.00...a bunch more than I expected.

KAZ, I have a question for you too! I'm gonna be picking up another handheld VHF this year. What would you reccomend? What are the differances in the lithium vs. Nicad battery packs that different brands use? Which would provide more use on a charge? Pro and cons?

Thanks, I have kept up on your inverter/12vdc posts lately and as always you sure post some excellent info!

Fishynut: Sorry for the delay, I was down in Florida, but back now. WOW it's cold!! Thats OK as I'm waiting for some Ice.. If I were going to buy another Handheld, I'd go with Icom or Standard. Both are very reliable and have good factory warranty. If you have the option, go Lithium Ion, no memory as stated. Also if one has an external antenna jack, that's a plus too. Hope to see you on the ice at LOTW....Kaz

Thanks Kaz, I kinda figured you must be away from the homefront as you're usually right on top of the radio/electronic questions!

I'll go ahead with one of the brands you mentioned with the lithium pack then, appreciate the advice.

Yep you missed a bit of this early cold weather.....surprise! Florida eh, did you get to wet a line while you were down there soaking up that warm weather?

Looks like the days of openwater fishing up this way are about coming to an end, oh well really early ice this year maybe!

Regards....Fisky

Fisky: Nope, no wet lines in Florida this trip. Just time to visit the BassPro Shops in Lauderdale. They don't even know what Ice Fishing is!! Looks like the Ice Forcast is looking good. Maybe you'll be out past Pine before Turkey Day. I'm planning the first and third week of December or sooner if possible....Kaz
