It all depends on how much you use it. Mine I can usually get a couple of years before some thing breaks but it can always be fixed. The trolling motor that I have now has had just about everything replaced on it and it is only 2 years old. I would start to look for a new one when you want to upgrade.

I received an old Minnkota transom mount from my father in law when I got my boat 6 years ago. (His current MK bowmount is easily 10-15 years old with no problems either). Don't know how old it was (early 80's maybe??) but it worked flawlessly for the 2 years I kept it. I decided to get a bowmount and sold the transom mount on hsolist for 3/4 the cost of a new one. Go figure.

There is a market for used ones if you have a reason to upgrade. I wouldn't worry about it's reliablity however.

Hi everyone.

This might be a dumb question. How long does a bowmount trolling motor last? My trolling motor is going on 6 years and I'm wondering should I start looking a new trolling motor?

Thanks!!!!!

Brian

I have a minkota 65 that is a 1970 vintage that has served two generations. I have had it into Vexilar/Motor Clinic for a general overhall(seals, brushes, bearings) once.

Actually everthing in the motor is replaceable and the motor can be rebuilt.

If you are satisfied with the motors performance it should last you for many years.
